Privacy Notice
Information on the processing of personal data pursuant to Art. 13 GDPR.
In brief
This website sets no cookies, uses no tracking or analytics, and loads no external resources. Fonts, images and scripts are served from this website’s own server. No consent banner is therefore required. Personal data are processed only in two cases: technically necessary server log files, and the details you provide yourself when using the contact form.

Hosting and server log files
This website is hosted by STRATO AG, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. The servers are located in Germany. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the hosting provider.
Each time the website is accessed, the hosting provider automatically records information that your browser transmits. This comprises the IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, the HTTP status code, the volume of data transferred, the referring URL and the browser and operating system identifier.
These data are processed on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in operating the website securely and reliably and in detecting and tracing attacks. The data are not merged with other data sources and are not used to identify individual visitors. Log files are deleted by the hosting provider after a short period, generally within seven days.
Contact form
If you use the contact form, the details you enter — first name, last name, email address and the content of your message — are transmitted to the operator by email. Your IP address is stored temporarily in order to limit automated misuse of the form; it is deleted after one hour and is not sent with the message.
These data are processed on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where your enquiry relates to the initiation or performance of a contract, and otherwise on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, the legitimate interest being the handling of enquiries addressed to the operator.
Providing these data is voluntary; without them, however, your enquiry cannot be answered. Your message is retained for as long as necessary to deal with your enquiry and thereafter in accordance with any statutory retention periods. You may request erasure at any time.
Contact by email
If you write directly to the email address given above, your message and the details it contains are stored in order to process your enquiry. The legal basis is the same as for the contact form. Please note that email is not encrypted end-to-end in transit; do not send highly sensitive information by unencrypted email.
Fonts, images and scripts
The typefaces used on this site (Newsreader and Inter, both licensed under the SIL Open Font License) are stored on this website’s own server and delivered from there. In contrast to the common practice of embedding fonts from external providers such as Google Fonts, no connection to a third-party server is established and no data are transmitted to third parties. The same applies to all images and scripts.
Local storage in your browser
If you switch between the light and dark colour scheme, your choice is stored in your
browser’s local storage under the key dk-theme. This is not a cookie, the value
never leaves your device, and it is not transmitted to the server. You can delete it at any
time via your browser settings. The site works fully without it.
Links to external websites
This website links to external pages, for example to publishers, DOI resolvers, media outlets and university websites. No content from those sites is embedded here; a connection is only established once you actively follow a link. From that point on, the privacy policy of the respective provider applies. The operator has no influence over the processing of your data on those sites.
Encryption
This site uses TLS encryption (HTTPS) for all connections. You can recognise an encrypted
connection by the https:// prefix in the address bar of your browser.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right, at any time and free of charge, to:
- obtain information about the personal data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR);
- have inaccurate data corrected (Art. 16 GDPR);
- have your data erased (Art. 17 GDPR);
- have the processing of your data restricted (Art. 18 GDPR);
- receive your data in a portable format (Art. 20 GDPR);
- object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR).
To exercise these rights, an informal message to mail@denniskraemer.net is sufficient.
Right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of your habitual residence, place of work or the place of the alleged infringement. The authority responsible for North Rhine-Westphalia is:
